Lockdowns lifted at 2 North Carolina colleges

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Lockdowns for two North Carolina college campuses have been lifted after separate incidents, one of which involved reports of a gun.

North Carolina Central University imposed a lockdown Friday after reports of an incident at a residence hall. School spokeswoman Ayana Hernandez says the lockdown was lifted around 3 p.m., but she had no further details, including whether a weapon was involved.

Hernandez says campus police are investigating and a search is underway.

Earlier Friday, North Carolina A&T State University was placed on lockdown after reports of a man with a rifle on campus. The lockdown on the Greensboro campus was lifted in the early afternoon.

The two campuses are approximately 50 miles apart.
